06 | If I had a million dollars (baby)

This topic is quite too far from the possibility since the only way to get this amount of money is to win the lottery. The problem is I don’t buy them so the chance for me to won the lottery is more than zero. However, there’s nothing wrong to imagine where the money would goes and how it will be spent.

The money will be divided into 4 parts. The first part is a half of them which will be deposited in the bank for some interests. This part will be kept for the security and will be used only in the emergency case.

The next half money will be equally divided into the second, the third and the forth part. The second part will be used for the investment. I want to own a business with my family; it’s probably a business with food, books which we all love.

The third part will be saved for my further study; I would like to study computer graphic or related fields in Japan which amount of money is required. However, I’ll use this only for my beginning; the rest of the expense will be paid the money I gained from working.

Since the money I won from the lottery is from the society, I would like to repay this forth part of the money to the charity especially for the children and the disabled people. Children are the future of the nation and many of them are unable to improve themselves well since they’re lack of chances. Hopefully, this money can help them at least to lit the light in their hopes and encourage them.

These are just my plans which seem reasonable to me but impossible to have this chance won the lottery since I don’t buy it. Nevertheless, money is not the key to everything and not everything money can buy. The meaning of money is about how you spend it not what you spend it for.

05 | My favourite boring books

Have you ever thought that you are the unluckiest person in the world? Yes, that happens to all of us sometimes. But wait until you read the unfortunate series of the Baudelaires, you will think to yourself how lucky you are. Written by Daniel Handler under the pseudonym of Lemony Snicket, these sorrowful series of the three orphans’ dreadful adventures are the putdownable books which the writer discourages you not to read the dreadful disasters in every each of the volumes. For example, in the last thirteenth book he stated that “"This book is the last in A Series of Unfortunate Events, and even if you braved the previous twelve volumes, you probably can't stand such unpleasantries as a fearsome storm, a suspicious beverage, a herd of wild sheep, an enormous bird cage, and a truly haunting secret about the Baudelaire parents.” I love his writing style though many people think it’s boring to narrate the definition of some words instead of going on with the stories.”

The story is about the three siblings who lost their family and fortune with the mysterious fire. Luckily or unluckily, there are a huge fortune left in the bank but the eldest sister’s age must be 18 years old in order to possess them. While waiting for the eldest sister, Violet, to reach her 18 years old, they were sent to live with other families which related with her family some ways. First, they were sent to their closest living relative, Count Olaf, who is cruel and later found that he involved with the mysterious fire. Count Olaf wants their fortune and tried every way in order to get them. No matter where the children were sent to live, he will disguise himself and try to exploit the children. With their own unique skills of the children, they are safe in the nick of time. At first they tried to escape Count Olaf but later they need to find him in order to get the truth about the fire and secret of their parents.

I’m totally a big fan of “the series of unfortunate events.” I like the concept of the story which tells us not to escape the problems but face it and we will learn from it. The stories are also detective style, giving readers many clues and let them guess how the story will end.

04 | Consume, Consumer, Consumerism

It is undeniable that, these days, the world completely becomes the world of consumerism. People consume beyond their necessity which never seems to be satisfied. Money plays such a big important part in our everyday lives which people can’t live without. Shopping becomes a popular activity for many families which is considered as a relaxation. Caused by the capitalism, this consumerism is widely spread all over the world.

If you ask me, media has a big effect on consumer behavior toward the consumption. It shapes people ideas subconsciously about what they should buy and what they shouldn’t. The children and teenagers are completely the victims since their abilities to consider are not strong enough and can be guided easily. For them, TV is their God who they worship and believe.

It may be true that the censorship some contents but not all. Leaving the children with TV without advisory or someone to guide is dangerous. Thus, it the absolute responsibility of the parents to guide their child not the stream of consumerism nor the TV.

03 | Price to Play (World Cup 2006)

Thanks to the world cup 2006, I got a phone call from a friend who had never been contacted for ages. It was the day after the final match of Italy and France, the day of judgement. Since I know who I was talking to, I suddenly realized that there must be something wrong. After the greeting conversation, he began to talk about his life in details. Unluckily, as I had expected, he cried and asked me if I can lend him some money. He lost amount of his money on the football betting. Moreover, he ran up debts of nearly 20,000 bahts since the first match. He told me that he was looking for a well-paid job so that he can get more money and repay the whole debts. He was threaten be the creditor that he will be in trouble unless he paid them all the debts. I asked him if his parents can help, the answer was he didn’t want to disappoint them. Thereby, I ended up the conversation with the excuse that I had just paid my money on textbooks and didn’t want to disturb my parents by asking them for more money.

The next day, while I was watching television, the news reporter reported that the rate of larceny had been increased dramatically since the end of world cup 2006. It was believed that the football betting of world cup 2006 leads to this high-rated robbery since the robber robbed in order to gain money and repaid the dept from the betting. Hopefully, my old friend wouldn’t be one of these people who solved the problem this way. Thanks, again, world cup 2006.

02 | Student Life

School is the simulation of the real word, just like a reality show; there are many contestants which each are from the different kinds of the society. Besides, there are challenging missions for us to complete and many conflicts to occur while doing the mission with your team members. Once a mission completed, another more challenging mission is assigned and the new harder rules or conditions are made. Unlike reality show, the winner of the game is only not the first one who will receive the rewards but all of them will get the lesson in their own ways from school whether they will win or lose.

Before having a chance to study in Silpakorn University, I once thought that the biggest thing in life is the entrance examination if I can get through this there’s nothing hard anymore. It was a big attempt of mine and I was absolutely proud of what I had done for a while. However, I soon woken up by this University with the fact that life’s more to learn and experience, what I did is just the first episode of this world of reality I have to get through. “A real student life has just begun”, I thought to myself.

University consists of every kinds of people you can think of, some of them you might never thought they would exist in this universe. The people are harder to deal with than the school society, more similar to the real world. Blending myself into the group and surroundings is the first big mission of mine, it took me almost two months to completed this mission. In addition, taking all responsibility to your life is tougher, it’s good to manage your own life but the housework and spending money controlling is hard sometimes. The content of study is more intensive and quizzes are made often, I’m expected to be well-prepared unless I will fail. And others harder missions are assigned consecutively. The more missions I am assigned, the more experience I have.

At this point, I don’t afraid the difficult tasks anymore. I’ll try to do it no matter how many time I will fail at least I’ll learn from it. Easy is nothing, easy doesn’t make me grow and experience. So Mr. Jason, I’m here to let you hit me with your hard assignments. I’ll try no matter how hard it is in order to improve myself and grow :-P
